Best/Worst Times to Grocery Shop
Our combined schedules have almost normalized over the past year. We both still work on Saturday but have Sunday completely to ourselves. I am grateful for the opportunities that working multiple jobs and weekends affords us but I am also grateful for the luxury of a complete day off together. There are families that are working their butts off seven days a week that would kill for that time together so I don't take it for granted.
That being said...we can grocery shop on the weekend like a normal couple! Saturday nights are typically date nights and on Sunday I can either squeeze groceries in before T wakes up or we can go together after mass. Now, having said this we hate high traffic grocery store times. Honestly, I can maneuver around carts and bodies like a pro but it isn't worth T's frustration to go when it is a mob scene.
High traffic times we avoid:
1. Weeknights after work and before dinner time (when everyone is equally exhausted, starving, and incredibly pleasant)
2. Sunday morning after mass gets out (RI is one of the most Catholic states in the nation so you know when church is over everyone and their mother is headed to the grocery store)
3. Saturday or Sunday before the big game (for us it is before a Patriot's game because NFL fans need their snacks and we are right their with them)
4. Saturday afternoon (when shoppers have bbq's to head to or a holiday weekend on tap)
So when CAN we go grocery shopping?!
1. First thing in the morning 7 days a week (Most stores open at 7 or 8am around us so if I am up and motivated, it is easy to get in and out before anyone else is even up)
2. Late at night (alright not THAT late but definitely after dinner while other people are digging into dessert or out at the bars on a weekend)
Next up, how do I prep for the grocery store, what the budget looks like, and how 'bout that meal plan?
