Sunday Night Field Trip
On Sunday night it came our attention that our little love bug, Edison, had a pretty ugly boo boo above his shoulder, probably from playing too rough at the park with another dog on Saturday. So we looked up vets in the area and made some phone calls. Turns out the closest place that was open was south of us in Swansea, MA. Bay State Veterinary Emergency Services took great care of us and got Ed stitched up and medicated. He does have a nice bald spot on his back now where they had to shave him down to access his cut. We carried him into the house when we got home as he was still sedated and loopy. I sat him down on his bed in the dining room where he promptly fell over sideways. At this point I think he mustered all of the strength he could manage and hauled himself into the bedroom and camped out under our bed for the rest of the night, sleeping off the sedatives. The whole field trip was a little traumatic for all of us but there was a silver lining!
They told us it would take a bit for them to work on Ed and that we could go grab something to eat while we waited. So we drove down the road to Warren, RI and visited Chomp Kitchen and Drinks which I had seen featured in The Phoenix not too long ago. It was great! We will go back when we have time to sit down and have dinner. It was warm and cozy inside and the decor was contemporary and rustic. We sat at the bar and just ordered drinks and an app. T couldn't stop talking about the Chicharrones which are"Crispy bites of our house spiced pork belly with Chimichuri Rojo & Lemon Aioli" and I don't blame him. Those were dynamite. The beers on tap were good, ranging from Ommegang to Lagunitas to Two Roads. I was happy to have a Foolproof Barstool Amber from Pawtucket, RI and noticed that they also had a ton of bottles and cans to offer. Service was great the whole time we were there and the bartender was clearly a beer-lover who knew his stuff. Chomp is currently only open for dinner and I can't wait for it to be our next date night.
