Localvore Valentines

Valentine's Day proved once again that T and I are on the same page. We bought each other very similar, small, but much appreciated gifts. All of them were New England products which is appropriate because eating local is a lifestyle that we came around to together and that we try and subscribe to as much as possible.

First, T's mother had the ingenious idea to ship her son a selection of prime cuts of grass-fed beef from his uncles farm in the NEK. This meant that we ate like kings on Valentine's Day.

For dessert, T showed up with a white pastry box from LaSalle Bakery which is always a good sign. Inside were two heart shaped chocolate cakes with gooey strawberry centers and a swirl of whipped cream on top.
I tried to capture the essence of the goo inside. So good.
As far as beverages go, we are covered for the next month. T bought me a six pack of Backyahd from Foolproof as well as a six pack of Smuttynose Robust Porter. He said it was the first time that our portrait had ever ended up on a beer bottle.

T received a seasonal sampler of Long Trail which includes Long Trail Ale, their IPA, Ramble, and Blackberry Wheat.

I also catered to T's addiction to quality coffee which I only have myself to blame for because I was the one that fueled it initially. Whole bean New Harvest Coffee Roasters did the trick. Whisper Espresso was what I got him but lets be serious, I like it too.

Valentine's Day wouldn't be complete without some excellent chocolate so I sought out some Lake Champlain Chocolates and ended up getting T a milk chocolate bar with sea salt and almonds. It was amazing.

That basically concluded our Valentine's Day. No big plans because our anniversary is coming up and we usually do something special for that. All a girl really needs is a good meal and her honey at her side anyway. Hope your Valentine's Day was full of love and deliciousness.
