Durk's Bar-B-Q

Winner!!!!! Last weekend T and I went to Durk's Bar-B-Q on Thayer Street in Providence. It was SO good. Here are the bullet points:

  • Fun staff
  • Authentic Texas BBQ
  • Great drink selection
  • Bumpin'
Staff
The owners were working the front desk when we walked in. They were incredibly nice and pleasant and didn't seem at all bothered by the huge amount of people eating all their food one week into their business. Our wait was supposed to be 30 min so we grabbed beers at the bar and then drank them while we stood by the front door. Our wait was more like 7 minutes. Table opened up and off we went.

Texas BBQ
Vinegar based sauce was bottled and on the table for extra goodness. T ordered us one of everything and got in line to pick it up. They had already started running out of meat and it was only three hours into service. You can see why after you get a plateful of the brisket...or the pulled pork...or the pork belly. Like, damn, that shit is good. The mac n cheese was wicked creamy and the brussels sprouts were one of the best green veggie side dishes I've ever had a restaurant. My one regret is not getting dessert. Next time.

Booze
The bar has an impressive selection of liquor and the tap list is nothing to cry about either. They had started to run out of some of their drafts but we were easily able to pick something else.

Bumpin'
The place was full. And everyone was happy because their bellies were full of good food. The turn around inside is incredible. If you are familiar with the crappy Shark restaurant that used to be in the space, Durk's crew has totally transformed the interior into a warm southern bbq joint.

T was already wanting to go back this week, so we'll be there again sooner than later.
