Date Nights in Wanskuck
Friday night T and I were actually able to go on a date which is so refreshing when we hardly see each other all week. Also, sometimes ya just need a reason to put on a cute outfit, so I was determined to go SOMEWHERE. Exhausted from the week and unable to justify fighting for parking downtown, we walked to our little neighborhood pub, The Abbey. They have a good beer selection, a cozy interior, burgers galore, and it doesn't hurt that it is a stones throw from our front door. We did apps and drinks and caught up on the week and just enjoyed each other. He's the best.
Since I spent 1:1 time with T last night it was only appropriate that I spend my Saturday with Edison, giving him some much need attention. In reality, T is out of town until tomorrow morning so I needed my furry companion to be my sidekick, but don't tell him that. We went to Blackstone and played with lots of other dogs and their owners so I did have some human contact today. Then I took advantage of the fact that Ed was exhausted in the back seat of the car and stopped at the grocery store and also at Savers, just to scope. If you are unfamiliar with Savers and are a fan of thrift or second hand shopping, familiarize yourself with it. I was unaware of its existence because we don't have them in Vermont but I would equate it to Goodwill. It houses used (and sometimes abused) house wares, clothes, shoes, toys, books, furniture, electronics, etc. If you get squirmy around thrift-stores I wouldn't recommend starting your bargain hunting career here. This is the ultimate. If you find something for $10.00, its too much. That's my personal Saver's rule. The Savers I am currently in love with is at 201 Branch Ave. in Providence, across the street from Stop and Shop. Weekends are the bomb because, I can only assume, people who donate their used items don't have time to drop them off until the weekend so Saturday-Monday are prime shopping times for new inventory.
As you can see Edison and I chose one of my favorites, Long Trail Imperial Pumpkin. Its sweet and filled with Fall flavors, and it comes in a Big-Girl bottle because its only brewed in small batches. Naturally I chose a frozen pizza that I had a coupon for, have I mentioned that I love coupons? And for the grand finale Ben and Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie. I wanted to fist pump in solidarity with the other twenty-something girl standing in front of the B&J cooler with me at the store. The struggle to choose between something fruity and something chocolate was tangible on both of our faces. Naturally I went the chocolate route and she something with fruit and so ended our would-be friendship. Cheers!

When dinner time rolled around and Ed and I were snuggled up in our favorite blanket, I realized the freedom of having to feed only myself. T is generally the one who keeps our healthy eating in check so when hes gone I totally go to town. My co-pilot and I hopped in the car and headed to the grocery store for a frozen pizza (literally), Ben & Jerry's, and some good beer. Here is what we ended up with:
