Beers and Bruins

Friday night T had skipped town to prep for a lifting meet so my big brother was kind enough to take me to my first Providence Bruins hockey game. Parking is a little pricey ($10.00) so we agreed to spare the expense and walk a little extra. The Dunkin' Donuts Center where the Bruins play, aka The Dunk, is conveniently located downtown near a handful of bars. We hopped over to the Trinity Brewhouse at 146 Fountain Street for a porter and a Belgian saison before the game started. Both were delicious and the bartender was pleasant and attentive. We didn't eat but everything coming out of the kitchen smelled yummy and looked like it would've gone great with our beers. There can be a good crowd in Trinity late on the weekends but around dinner time its pretty relaxing, just filled with patrons watching a game on one of the TVs and enjoying a pint made in house.
After a quick drink, we ran over to the Dunk and found our seats. Tickets are not a huge expense but my brother had gotten a handful from a good friend so we sat in the reserved section. The seats were very cushy and the rink was temperate so that really all I needed was a light jacket. Love a warm rink. The crowd was awesome, to say the least. It was practically full and since it was a Friday night, there were a ton of families out with their kids. If you've ever seen a seven year old get pumped up about minor league athletics you know how crazy they can get. The announcers and event coordinators do a fantastic job catering to the crowd with the jumbo screen and the music in between puck drops. Bruins lost but I'd say it was a successful first trip to The Dunk.
