Trinity Brewhouse and Harry's Bar & Burger
One of my cousins was in town from D.C. this weekend so Friday night we met up with her, her beau, her beau's sister, and her beau's brother-in-law. Oh, and one of my big brothers came too. Having completed her undergraduate degree at Providence College, my cousin was sort of returning to her old stomping grounds so we chose to meet up at Trinity Brewhouse at 186 Fountain St. I know I've mentioned Trinity before here but I'm gonna mention it again. We met up in the basement, which I'd never been in before. There is an entire bar down there so it does feel like its own entity. The doorways are archways of painted brick and funky murals coat the walls. There is a pool table for those savvy enough to play in public, something I rarely do since I would just embarrass myself. There are booths as well as tables for bigger parties. We were a party of six so we sat with a couple tables pushed together and nobody seemed to have a problem with it. There was an attentive waiter serving meals from upstairs to patrons around us which obviously means there is no kitchen downstairs so everything comes from above. The same waiter was quick to clear empty glasses which kept our table nice and clear. The Russian Imperial Stout was a table favorite although we were also drinking Tommy's Red which I found disappointing and the Rhode Island IPA which was okay.
We stuck around for a couple rounds and caught up which was awesome and then T's stomach started to rumble. There is no point in fighting it-when the kids gotta eat, he has got to eat. We said our goodbyes and headed over to Harry's Bar & Burger which I have also probably talked about. Out of all the restaurants in PVD that we've been to since we moved here in Fall of '13, this is one of the only places we go again and again and again....and again. Seriously. What keeps us coming back you ask? Well first of all, they are open late which makes for a great stop after drinks elsewhere, duh.
Second, they have an awesome beer list with constantly changing taps and a mile long list of cans and bottles. On Friday T had the Greenflash IPA that was on tap. I had a can of Raincloud from Foolproof since that is what I'm loving lately from our local selection.
The third reason we keep going back to Harry's is the prices. Two classic sliders are just $3.99 and obviously you're not gonna walk out without a side so you're looking at a $10.00 meal, if that. You're gonna want to get cheese fries or my personal favorite onion strings when you stop in. Even better, get the Crunch Burger which has onion strings on it. For a small fee hungry folks can add a third slider to their order. Note T's trio bellow.
So in conclusion despite my best efforts to constantly go to new spots, it is hard to deny what you know is delicious and satisfying, in this case, Trinity and Harry's.
